Afternoon at Lumbermans Monument

Last Saturday we met the workers at the Lumbermans monument. Was a beautiful fall day and the colors were almost at their peak. Hiked down 2 hundred and some steps to see the Lumbermans "floating house" then walked over to the sand dune. I couldn't get a picture to show really how steep the dune was. We took our sleds hoping to slide down, but they just dug in ... so we ran down!! Was lots of fun, but a HUGE workout to get back up. You can't believe how hard til you try it! Had to coax Kylee up 10 steps at a time the last 1/4 of the hill. A beautiful day!!

Kids are fearless!

I looked out the window and here is where I found the kids. Yes, they were under their dads supervision!! Cleaning the branches and leaves from the roof.

We all had fun playing in the leaves on one of our beautiful days last week.






Sammy was involved in the game for a while too - the kids would wiggle a finger and he would grab their arm and shake it like crazy.

First Day of School!

I met her at school after the bus dropped her off. The amount of supplies that they had to bring this year was more than the backpack would hold! So lucky me - I got to spend the first hour with her in her new class!

Boyne Mountain Water Park

We all had a blast! We went up Friday night, spent an hour at the water park - which there was hardly anyone there, so no waiting in lines, stayed in their hotel, then the whole day Saturday. The tallest slides were 80 steps up, so we sure got our exercise! Fun, Fun!

Finally made it to Thomas the Train

I have been promising the kids to do this for 3 years now, and it finally worked out. Thomas is only in Michigan for 2 weekends a year and last year we were in Arizona. I wondered if Devon would be too old to enjoy it, but he was glad we went and had just as much fun as Kylee. In Flint the track that Thomas comes to is the longest in the nation, so we got a 40 minute ride!




The curve was long enough that we could see Thomas pulling us! We were in the 2nd to last car.

Beach Days!

We had many fun times at the beach this year. It is so handy to have it only 1/2 mile away from our house! Easy to run down there for a couple of hours on a hot day. The kids really enjoyed the windy days - they loved the waves. Here are a couple of pictures from one of those days.

Fun at the Fair

The fair is always fun. And we happened to meet some friends by chance while we were there, so that made it even more fun!

Going Fishing!!

Scott and the kids did ALOT of fishing this summer. Most of the time they would go in the kayak. But a few times they went with Larry and Tami - they have a pontoon boat. The kids preferred that because there was more room to move around. A couple of times I went. This particular time I was with them, the fish were really biting. At times, a fish wasn't off someones line, before someone else caught one. Was kinda fun! I enjoy getting out and relaxing if its a nice day.

And... THE catch of the day hehe! Yes its a turtle. Had a good laugh at that one because we saw many turtles and a comment was made, "Watch someone catch a turtle." And Devon was the lucky one!
